John Coby over at Bay Area Houston broke the latest story on the Governor's bold move to urge Republican voters to quit their state taxpayer funded jobs.
Governor calls on Republican voters to resign from State Government.
"It is only fair that teachers and state employees who voted Republican should be the first to lose their tax funded jobs."
The Governor certainly makes an excellent point. Those who vote consistently for small government and low taxes should be the first to step up and put their money where their votes and ideologies are.
Today Governor Perry called upon the voters of Texas who supported his agenda of less spending and small government to help achieve this goal by voluntarily resigning from public service. "I am calling on voters who put the Republican party in control over the last 10 years to leave their state funded job and transition into the private sector." said Perry at a press conference.

One has to wonder why those who loath the government so much took taxpayer funded state jobs in the first place. One also has to wonder about Rick Perry who will rail, rant and rave anti-government rhetoric every time his mouth opens. In fact Perry howls the loudest while simultaneously taking millions of dollars of federal stimulus money. Maybe the Governor believes his anti-government temper tantrums will hide the fact that he begged for and grabbed a bailout from Uncle Sam.
Texas filled nearly 97 percent of its shortfall last year with Federal stimulus dollars, even as its governor has been sharply critical of "bailout" policies, CNN Money reports, citing the National Conference of State Legislatures. In the wake of the recession, Texas is one of many states that, contending with diminished revenue, have benefited from Federal support.
After facing a $6.6 billion budget hole, Texas used $6.4 billion of Federal money to help patch it, allowing the state to keep its $9.1 billion emergency fund intact, CNN reports.
But on the same day he asked for the bailout money, governor Rick Perry started a petition called "No Government Bailouts." Indeed, Perry is a consistent critic of government spending, frequently pointing to his own state as proof that budget austerity -- spending cuts coupled with low taxes -- works.
But now, with the stimulus money running out, and with the economy still sluggish, Texas is projected to run a nearly $27 billion deficit over the next two years, according to the state's own estimate.
To stave off that shortfall, lawmakers are planning cuts that include funds for Medicaid, education and child care, CNN reports
Maybe the Governor runs for public office because wouldn't last a day in the corporate sector where he would actually be held accountable for his reckless decisions and devastating financial blunders.
If folks would like to see just how bad Rick Perry and his Republican uncompromising fiscal conservative policies are check out the recent report from the Legislative Study Group.
Rick Perry and the Texas GOP will eliminate pre-K Early Start and Early Child Childhood Ready Programs. The Republican's plan will cut $9.8 billion from the Foundation School Program and are cutting education spending. The Perry plan will also eliminate 9,600 state employer jobs. He will cut $1.57 billion from nursing facility payments and $1.15 billion for Closing the Gap Programs including TEXAS Grant. In other words Rick Perry and the Texas GOP have decided to slash and burn schools, children, college students, the poor, the jobless the sick and the elderly.
Third world Texas here we come. When the Republican Party is finished with us Texas children will be qualified to work as domestic servants in the cities of Bombay and Beijing. Children from those countries are eating the U.S. children lunches in math and science as it is. Math and science education will be at the very bottom of the pits in U.S. ranking now.
Texas Democrats believe that the time has finally arrived for Republican voters to put their votes and ideologies into practice. For Republican voters have finally realized their small government and low taxes dream and its consequences.
Please have no worries about losing one's state taxpayer funded job. I am sure Rick Perry, David Dewhurst and your state senators and representatives will be more than happy to send letters of recommendation on your behalf to their corporate donors in the private corporate sector. After all, according to the Governor, there are plenty of good jobs in Texas.
